Saint Louis Lady Arm Wrestlers (SLLAW)
More

29.1 Social Groups & Events
"At its inception, SLLAW was founded as a radical fundraising mechanism to support local women-initiated philanthropic efforts. All money raised at SLLAW events is donated to causes that are voted upon by members of our collective. However, SLLAW is about more than charity. SLLAW is about empowering women, building relationships, and promoting the radical notion that women and girls are people deserving of the same rights and abilities as men and boys. SLLAW seeks to educate others about feminist issues and how those issues intersect with issues of race, class, sexuality, dis/ability, and myriad other causes of justice. The leaders of SLLAW wish to create a safe space for all people. Performers are limited to persons who self-identify as female or primarily female, but we welcome and encourage support from those who identify as male or primarily male in other roles."

MpowerSTL / Project ARK
More
29.1 Social Groups & Events
[Project ARK](https://projectark.wustl.edu/)’s __Mpowerment Project (also called MPOWERSTL)__ is an evolving project dedicated to empowering and mobilizing St. Louis’ young gay and bisexual male community. MPOWERSTL hosts a number of free events for younger Gay/Bi guys and transwomen in St. Louis. While some of our events are education-based, most of them are about being social — and all of them are designed to be a lot of fun! These events are not only great places to meet guys and have a good time: they're also opportunities to volunteer and get involved in your community! We try to focus on the entire "gay experience," not just the bar/club scene, and we're all about helping guys maintain healthy minds, bodies, and relationships. If you want to get involved, we have something that is PERFECT for you. Guiding Principles include: - Combining HIV prevention education/skills building opportunities with fun and engaging social activities to ensure young men attend Mpowerment events, learn about and get tested for HIV and STIs. - Young gay and bisexual men want to learn from their peers. - It is essential to build a young gay and bisexual men’s community where there is support for healthy sexual behaviors, routine HIV and STI testing, and the identities for all persons on the gender and sexual orientation continuum. - Young men take ownership of Mpowerment project activities - Young men are most likely to start preventing the acquisition of HIV and STIs (i.e. using condoms, reducing the number of sex partners), and get tested regularly when they see and hear that their peers using HIV/STI prevention tools and getting tested regularly. - The Mpowerment project enriches and strengthens young gay and bisexual men’s pride about who they are, and encourages them to explore and celebrate their sexuality by not just focusing on condom use but by including a wide variety of safer sex behaviors. - The Mpowerment project should use a combination of events and activities in order to address the variety of issues (i.e. self-esteem, homophobia, stigma, substance use) that cause young men to engage in sexual behaviors that increase their HIV/STI vulnerability and/or chose not to get tested for HIV/AIDS and STDs. - We are always creating new ways for young gay and bisexual men to come together, meet, socialize, have fun, and learn.

29.1 Social Groups & Events
Monthly Virtual Meetup for Trans Men Over Age 50 This event is free. (listed in PST) As we age, living our lives to the fullest, it can still be important to engage with others who are among a peer group. We have long recognized that there are very few opportunities for trans men over the age of fifty to gather in an open, safe, and brave space for conversation and community. We know our community is diverse with unique needs and concerns, yet older guys are often overlooked and isolated. It’s Our Time is an intentional virtual gathering space for trans men over fifty where we can share our individual experiences in respectful and nonjudgmental facilitated conversation centered around the impacts of our age in our trans lives. Confidentiality is respected. Join us. It’s Our Time! At this time, the only option is to register for the entire year of programming for this event. You will get an email confirmation with a clickable link to add all the events to your calendar. We strongly suggest you do so, as each event has its own unique Zoom link.

LitShop provides afterschool and summer programming that pairs engaging literacy opportunities with building and making for girls and gender-expansive youth ages 10-17. By intentionally creating a supportive space where girls can take risks, explore creatively, build skills, and connect with peers, LitShop fosters leadership and confidence our builders can use through adolescence and early adulthood. Lattes at Litshop: If you are a woman who works in construction careers, the building trades, or design, join us for coffee and conversation at LitShop. Meet other women in these fields while learning how you and your organization can help build the next generation.

Here is the signup form to be placed on the map: https://forms.gle/h7naVvAGnuZi7vLQ6 Tower Grove Pride is working on projects that use our resources and reach to help better connect LGBTQ+ St. Louisans to businesses and institutions that support them and provide safe and welcoming spaces. One of these initiatives is the LGBTQ+ Spaces Map of STL. The LGBTQ+ map of STL will be a regularly-updated resource to help people find and support the institutions and businesses that represent and support the LGBTQ+ community. Its goal is to provide a guide for LGBTQ+ people to know where our safe spaces are and to show appreciation for the allied businesses and institutions that support our community. The spaces should in some way be open to the public or be somewhere someone can physically go to participate in, support, or meet with the people running the business/establishment. We are growing an LGBT+ space on the VSC, to provide social connection and support to those experiencing social isolation. There will be LGBT+ classes and discussion groups that will focus on a range of topics, from fun to educational. Members also have access to the wider VSC community and class programming. We have partnered with Stonewall Village NYC, a network of community groups and organizations in New York, to kick start our programming. Now, we are looking to share this opportunity with a larger region. The VSC is a vibrant community of older adults across the United States that engage in daily live classes from the comfort of their homes. The VSC offers a secure, older adult friendly platform that provides access to individuals and communities to engage in live, interactive classes, live chats, recorded content, curated links and games, and more. Started over a decade ago to combat social isolation and loneliness in older adults, VSC has continuously adapted to new technologies and opportunities to support the evolving needs of our communities.
