Metro Trans Umbrella Group is now offering Name Change Microgrants for the 2023 calendar year! These microgrants will cover the required fees for court-ordered name changes for trans and/or nonbinary humans.

The application will remain open until 12/31/2023 at 11:59 PM CST — application reviews will be conducted beginning the second Monday of each calendar month, with selections made by the third Monday and recipients notified.

You can apply at bit.ly/mtug-microgrants.

With TransLifeline empowering MTUG with funding for our first name change clinic in October 2021, we have modeled our microgrant application and program after theirs. Through the generosity of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, MTUG can now launch this program during our first name change clinic since. We will continue to fundraise for this Name Change Microgrant program throughout the year and continuously offer financial support to those in need.

To build equity, fight systemic racism, share resources, and empower the individual, Metro Trans Umbrella Group is reserving 75% of microgrants to BIPOC individuals in Greater St. Louis. This will be our standard for MTUG while we connect on a deeper level with the trans and queer BIPOC communities and cultivate a fair and just equity policy for all of us.
