Nahed Chapman New American Academy is a St. Louis Public School that serves only children in grades K-8 who are new to the United States and have a score of 2.0 or below on the ACCESS Screener. Students can only stay at NCNAA for a maximum of two years before they are able to transition to one of our ESOL Center Schools. ESOL Center Schools provide ESOL support to students based on their individual need.

"The International Institute of St. Louis provides opportunities for immigrants and refugees to thrive in order to create a welcoming, prosperous, and healthy region for all. The Institute programs include Intensive social work case management, Behavioral Health Wellness, opportunities for Economic Development (i.e. financial literacy and business classes), Refugee Support Services, Refugee Resettlement, Immigration Services, Federal/State Benefits applications, and much more! Works most with foreign-born clients, including male, transgender and gender non-conforming clients (unlike many other local organizations who work only with cisgender female clients), both adult and adolescent clients Offers many services for new arrivals to the St. Louis area. Services include: English classes for adults, job search, employment training, career advancement program and assistance with licensing, refugee resettlement, immigration application preparation, mental health services, elderly services, counseling, services to victims of domestic violence or human trafficking, translation services, assistance with starting a business, and more. Community Development Corporation This subsidiary of the International Institute helps immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs who want to start or expand small local businesses, but lack access to mainstream capital. IICDC provides business loans ranging from $500 to $35,000. IICDC also provides technical assistance includes help in writing business & marketing plans, obtaining business licenses, addressing credit issues and linking to volunteer professionals. Its goal is to help entrepreneurs become bankable."

The Ritenour Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Program provides free services that help adult students obtain the skills necessary to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, prepare for post-secondary education, become U.S. citizens, improve English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) proficiency, find and keep a job, and achieve other academic, employment, or personal goals. Students attending any classes in any program of AEL must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with 16 high school credits, no longer attending high school, provide documentation from previous school, and attend a mandatory orientation. Specific services the AEL program(s) offers include: - HSE (High School Equivalency) Preparation - Literacy Services/Adult Basic Education - English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) Classes - Online Registration and testing - Workforce and college preparation All classes are FREE! Classes are available Monday through Thursday in the morning and evenings at the Adult Learning Center, 8762 St, Charles Rock Road, St. John, MO 63114. Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) provides free virtual and face-to-face classroom instruction to eligible Missouri citizens in Reading, Language, Mathematics, English Language Competency, Workplace Literacy, Digital Literacy, Civics, and Citizenship. Certified instructors teach all classes. Adult students receive preparation for Missouri’s High School Equivalency exam (HiSET®) integrated with career specific workforce training. English learners become literate in the English language while learning the responsibilities of citizenship and workforce preparation. AEL programs around the state offer services, free of charge, to anyone who is at least 17 years of age or 16-year-olds who have met Missouri’s compulsory school attendance requirements. To be eligible for AEL services, individuals must also have one of the following barriers: basic skills deficiency/low literacy levels based on assessment, lack of high school diploma or equivalency, or learning the English language.
