James P. Ahearn, JD LPC, is a founding partner at Ahearn Kershman, LLC in Clayton. In addition to being an attorney, he is a Licensed Professional Counselor who uses his counseling skills to support his clients. He understands that legal issues often create strong emotional experiences; therefore, he is able to utilize both his counseling and legal expertise to advocate for his clients. James works on many cases, some in which include:

  • immigration matters
  • landlord-tenant matters
  • property disputes
  • business services to mental health professionals

James works as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly addressing name changes and gender marker changes for trans and nonbinary individuals. He is a member of WPATH - World Professional Association for Transgender Health. James is a founder and Co-Chair of Philotimo, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to removing barriers to mental health treatment for LGBTQ+ individuals.
