PROMO (Promoting Missouri) is Missouri's statewide public policy and advocacy organization confronting system inequities to liberate the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination and oppression.
A member of the Equality Federation, it is the largest LGBTQ organization in the state and has been in operation since 1986.
Our Vision: Missouri is a state in which LGBTQ+ people – every demographic, race, ethnicity, zip code, and experience – are valued and thriving.
Our Mission: PROMO confronts systemic inequities to liberate the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination and oppression.
We identify LGBTQ rights supporters, educate them on the issues, give them the tools and the confidence to participate in the political process, and get results. PROMO's goals are to help LGBTQ+ Missourians create a supportive and visible community, become active in the democratic process, and work for their equal protection under the law. We build community awareness and grassroots support for LGBTQ+ equality and increase civic participation of LGBTQ Missourians.
PROMO runs MAP – Missourians Aging with Pride (formerly the Sage of PROMO Fund) which strives to enhance the quality of life of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older adults through advocacy and community awareness.
