Description

The mission of Opportunity House is to create a St. Louis where all young people (ages 17-24) have access to safe and stable housing. In partnership with Tower Grove Community Development Corporation, our LGBTQIA+ housing site is located in south St. Louis City. The location offers easy access to shopping, public transportation, and Tower Grove Park. It is centrally located to a number of vital community resources. We are a housing first organization, and we offer wraparound services to support our residents' growth at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for them.

In partnering with communities across the region our young people can find the support they need to experience life-long change.

Opportunity House has a LGBTQIA+ Housing program even though the org itself is not queer or trans only/specific.

  1. Provide Housing
Offer low barrier housing to young people experiencing homelessness.

  2. Create Stability
Provide basic necessities, physical and mental health care , and ongoing support.

  3. Encourage Growth
Provide ongoing employment and education support to build necessary skills.

  4. Build Community
Support the development of a supportive community to ensure long-term success.

Our Referral Form is not a waitlist. We will not be responding to referrals when they are received. We will be prioritizing folks based on need, taking into consideration vulnerabilities and length of time experiencing homelessness.

As of February 2023: "We have a few openings in our housing programs in the coming weeks. To be eligible, individuals must be between the ages of 17 and 24, be a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and have the ability to live safely with a roommate in an apartment. If you are eligible and interested, complete the referral form: https://opportunityhousestl.org/referral/"

As of March 2024: "Opportunity House will have several program openings in the next few months. Placements are available in the organization's program for young people, ages 17-24, who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community. See the attached pdf for details on how to submit a referral. It is asked that this form be completed by young people seeking services and not by providers or other members of their support team. Opportunity House staff ask that - if you have not yet had the opportunity to meet - that you connect with the organization (info@opportunityhousestl.org) before having young people complete the referral form."
